Wednesday 7th May, 7.30pm

Yasmin Cordery Khan at Goring Library

Overland was one of our favourite book club reads in hardback last year and so we're delighted that to celebrate the paperback launch Yasmin will be joining us at Goring Library to discuss her inspiration behind the book. Set in the present and the 1970s, Overland is the story of three young people who embark on the overland trail from London to Kathmandu in a beaten-up old Land Rover. A trip that promises adventure but ultimately ends with devastating consequences for everyone. â€‹Complimentary refreshments will be served. All proceeds from the talk will go to the Friends of Goring Library. Book your tickets here or pick them up from Goring library.

If you are unable to make the event, but would like to order a signed copy of her book, this can be ordered here.

Oxford’s War - Professor Ashley Jackson

TWHAS, St Mary-Le-More

Ashley is Professor of Imperial and Military History at King’s College London, and a visiting Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford. This talk will reveal the extraordinary and often hidden role that Oxford played in Britain’s war effort. It will use first-hand narratives and surprising revelations, uncovering the remarkable transformation of this historic city into a hub of military and government activity during one of the darkest times in modern history. Members of The Wallingford Historical & Archaeological Society free, or £5 on the door.

If you are unable to make the event, but would like to order a signed copy of his book, this can be ordered here.
