Latest News - May 2025

This month we're focussing on events, and there is so much to look forward to over the summer.
Coming up there really is something for everyone. From Oxford's role in WW2 to politics and the role of the 1922 committee to how volcanoes shape our world. Historical fiction fans will be spoilt for choice as we discuss the women behind the Wars of the Roses with Annie Garthwaite, the dark side of Vivaldi with Harriet Constable and celebrate 250 years of Jane Austen with Gill Hornby. More details on our events page!
Plus of course more school author visits and book fairs
than you can shake a stick at.
Five Little Pigs Cookbook Club
The Cookbook Club with our friends Five Little Pigs started at the beginning of April. Each month Five Little Pigs will arrange a lunch and dinner with recipes chosen from a different cookery book. Cookbook clubbers can discuss their own favourite recipes (and all sorts of other things) whilst enjoying the superb food, wine and cocktails.

The first book was Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. This was followed in May with Ella Risbridger's Midnight Chicken.

June's Cookbook Club will take place on Tuesday 3rd June and will feature cooking from Ottolenghi's classic Jerusalem.

Pop in to the shop to pick up the book, or contact us to pre-order a copy to pick up on the night. To book, email littlepigsltd@gmail.com
or contact them via The Five Little Pigs website.

Libro.fm - An Audiobook Alternative
We are often asked for audio books, and whilst some are still available to purchase on CD, numbers have declined in recent years. Up until now, we have directed customers to the Libby and Borrowbox apps, which offer free audiobook downloads for library members, but there are sometimes queues for books, which can put some customers off.
So, now we've signed up to Libro.fm, the Bookshop.org of digital audio books! Click here to find out more :)
